Manuel Curado was one of the curators of the 2025 edition of the Espanto International Philosophy Festival, held in Cascais from June 19 to 22. As part of the event, Curado also delivered a talk titled “There Is No Reason for Fear: A Speech Against Hope.”

The Fear

In times of uncertainty, fear and anxiety, the ESPANTO Philosophy Festival emerges as a space for reflection and discovery, where Philosophy intersects with real life and becomes a collective experience. In 2025, the festival proposes a deep reflection on Fear – this invisible force that paralyzes us, but can also transform us. For four days, philosophers, thinkers and creators from different areas will come together to talk, listen, explain and experiment.
