POSTGRADUATE COURSES

CEPS’s researchers actively collaborate in courses coordinated by the Department of Philosophy of the School of Arts and Humanities, namely in the MA in Political Philosophy, in which they teach and supervise dissertations, and in the PhD Programme in Philosophy, in which they supervise projects in areas of Ethics and Social and Political Philosophy.

MASTER IN POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY

SCIENTIFIC AREA: PHILOSOPHY AND ETHICS

The course covers the analysis of the most relevant topics in the history of modern political thought, as well as a careful exploration of some of the main issues of Political Philosophy today. The latter are organized into three core subjects: theories of justicetheories of recognition, and theories of democracy.

The faculty includes professors from the University of Minho, from universities of Spain, and from other universities in Europe and North America (list of professors here). Furthermore, this Master course has a global outlook benefiting from the international research networks and events promoted by the Centre for Ethics, Politics and Society, at the University of Minho.

PHD PROGRAMME IN PHILOSOPHY

SCIENTIFIC AREA: PHILOSOPHY

The PhD in the field of knowledge in Philosophy is a course with a duration of three years (180 ECTS), which allows the acquisition of solid knowledge through a rigorous methodological process typical of the Human Sciences. During the research, the doctoral student is accompanied, in a personalized way, by one or more supervisors.

The Doctorate in Philosophy has a body of professors and researchers composed of specialists with established recognition in the national university system and a strong internationalization. There is also the possibility of resorting to co-supervision by professors/researchers, of recognized merit, outside the University of Minho.
