Hugo Rajão was awarded the 2024 Res Pública Prize for his essay “O local de trabalho como um lugar de desigualdade distributiva e relacional: potencialidades e desafios na democratização das relações laborais”. In this 6th edition, the prize focused on the theme “Inequalities: Trends and Challenges”, inviting participants to analyse issues such as poverty and public policy, territorial inequalities, gender discrimination and vulnerable groups, as well as tax policy and justice.
The second prize went to Elaine Silva Cordeiro and Simone Lima Azevedo Manel, authors of the essay “Quanto eu valho no mercado? Intelectualidades subjugadas e o subaproveitamento da força de trabalho de mulheres imigrantes em Portugal”. The jury also awarded an Honourable Mention to Alexandre Freire for the essay “Desigualdade Económica, Globalização e Erosão da Democracia”. The Youth Prize was awarded to Helena Halpern, author of the essay “Desigualdade e Justiça Fiscal”.
