Anca Gheaus // Inheritance

The 6th session of the 2021/2022 PREDPOD-Predistribution and Property-Owning Democracy online seminar, will take place on March 28th, at 4pm (Lisbon time). In this session Anca Gheaus will present an ongoing work inheritance (paper information to be shared). Anca Gheaus, our invited speaker, will make a brief presentation of the main ideas of her paper which will be followed by a reply by a discussant to be announced and a debate with the participants.

Anca Gheaus (speaker): Anca Gheaus is a political philosopher interested in justice and the normative significance of personal relationships. She has worked at various universities in Europe, co-edited the The Routledge Handbook of the Philosophy of Childhood and Children and published numerous journal articles and book chapters, primarily on issues concerning childrearing and gender justice. Currently Anca is writing a monograph on child-centred childrearing, under contract with Oxford University Press.

Manuel Sá Valente (discussant). Manuel is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the Hoover Chair of Economic and Social Ethics (UCLouvain). He is currently finishing a thesis on egalitarian justice and retirement pensions. Manuel works on several issues related to egalitarianism and time. Especially on how to distribute goods across life (e.g. free time, income, taxes, votes) in a way that treats young/old and short-/long-lived persons with equal concern.
