Cindy Holder // Human Rights Without Hierarchy: Why Theories of Global Justice Should Embrace the Indivisibility Principle

The 3rd session of the 2021/2021 PREDPOD online seminar, will take place on December 15, at 6pm (Lisbon time). In this session the following article will be discussed: ‘Human Rights Without Hierarchy: Why Theories of Global Justice Should Embrace the Indivisibility Principle’ (2020). Cindy Holder, our invited speaker, will make a brief presentation of the main ideas of his paper which will be followed by a reply by a discussant to be announced and a debate with the participants.

Cindy Holder (speaker): Cindy Holder is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Her research focuses on human rights (including the human rights of Indigenous peoples), international ethics, transitional justice and the philosophy of international law. Dr. Holder’s articles have appeared in journals such as Human Rights Quarterly, Human Rights Review, Politics Philosophy & Economics, Public Affairs Quarterly and Criminal Law and Philosophy. Her 2013 co-edited volume Human Rights: The Hard Questions is currently available through Cambridge University Press. Her current book project focuses on ethical and theoretical issues posed by the state-centrism of international law.
