Colloquium – Basic Income, Workplace Democracy, and Future of Work

This event explores the transformative possibilities within Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) and Workplace Democracy (WD). This Colloquium seeks to open up a rich dialogue on how these two frameworks can help reshape the future of work by addressing critical questions of freedom, fairness, and empowerment in labor and economic relations.

The event is organized by Roberto Merrill (CEPS), Hugo Rajão (CEPS) and Thiago Souza (CEPS), in a partnership between the Centre for Ethics Politics and Society of the University of Minho (Braga, Portugal) and the University of Barcelona.
The event is funded by the project UBIECO (The Moral, Economic, and Social Value of Basic Income – reference 2022.02143.PTDC). The project, led by Professor Roberto Merrill (UMinho, CEPS) and funded by the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology, includes a comprehensive list of associate researchers worldwide. The focus of this project is to expand and systematize the methodology and analysis regarding the nascent literature on the moral, economic, and social benefits of the UBI and to uncover more about the mid to long-term socioeconomic benefits of implementing a UBI.
