MANUEL SÁ VALENTE

Manuel Sá Valente is a researcher at the Centre for Ethics, Politics, and Society. He has previously worked as a lecturer at Leiden University and at UCLille, where he taught courses in Political Philosophy and Ethics. Additionally, Manuel has been a research fellow at the “Intergenerational Justice Index” project for the Institute of Public Policy – Lisbon. In October 2022, Manuel earned a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Louvain, at the Hoover Chair of Economic and Social Ethics, where he is a member.
Manuel´s research primarily focuses on theories of justice between generations, age groups, people who live unequally long lives, and their intersection with public policy, especially retirement. Manuel´s contributions to these or related topics have appeared in academic journals such as Res Publica, Law, Ethics and Philosophy, Basic Income Studies, and an edited book for Oxford University Press. Manuel has also co-authored a policy paper and written pieces in the media.
