Predistribution and Property-owning Democracy Seminars: “Property-owning democracy, market socialism and workplace democracy”

The 2nd session of the PREDPOD online seminar, will take place on November 17, at 4pm (Lisbon time). In this session the following article will be discussed: Property-owning democracy, market socialism and workplace democracy (2021). Christian Neuhäuser, our invited speaker, will make a brief presentation of the main ideas of his paper which will be followed by a reply by Louis Mosar and a debate with the participants.
Christian Neuhäuser (speaker): Christian Neuhäuser (*1977) is Professor of Political Philosophy at TU Dortmund University. His re-search focuses on theories of dignity, theories of responsibility, philosophy of economics and philosophy of international relations. He is a member of the Green Academy and editor of the Journal for Business, Economics & Ethics. He studied Philosophy, Sinology and Sociology in Göttingen, Berlin and Hong Kong and received his Ph.D. from the University of Potsdam with a thesis on “Corporations as Moral Actors”.
Discussant: Louis Mosar is a PhD researcher at the RIPPLE research group (KU Leuven). Since November 2020 he has been working on his Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) funded PhD project about (neo)republicanism and domination in the market. Besides (neo)republicanism, he is interested in the thought of Karl Polanyi, the normative assessment of economic institutions, radical forms of political theory such as anarchism, Marxism, socialism and questions regarding the nature of the economy and economic science.
